We arrived to the the ORL Department of the Children's Hospital in Brno on Monday April 26, 2010. The approach to us as well as to the patient was very distant from the beginning – so be it, one normally does not go to hospital to entertain.
The tonsils removal surgery under total anesthesia was performed without any complications (known to us) and nothing indicated that we should not be back home with Matěj on Saturday May 1, as planned. As his temperature was above average due to some reason, his discharge from hospital was put off by one day without any explanation. We were in the hospital with Matěj at that time, so we can describe exactly the incredible minutes and hours that followed.
On Saturday May 1, in the afternoon, Matěj's operated throat started bleeding slightly and therefore thethe second surgery to solve the problem.
Unfortunately, the operating room was occupied and Matěj had to wait for around one hour and a half. In the meantime the bleeding intensified. Then Matěj took the second surgery, again under total anesthesia. Nobody in the hospital told us anything about the reasons and course of the second surgery.
During the period of two hours after the surgery, a nurse came to see him several times and a doctor once. Suddenly Matěj collapsed. We tried to call a nurse. We had to wait for some time, after several long and long minutes she called the doctor, and then the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department was called. They reanimated Matěj for 35 minutes and then moved him to the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department.
We do not understand it. The investigation is still undergoing and therefore we would not like to give more details. doctors decided to perform
